I had been using the Logitech G102 for almost three years, and after all this time, I finally decided it was time to switch to a wireless gaming mouse.
But there was one thing I was very clear about: I didn't want to spend a lot of money.
At the same time, I wanted something lightweight. And believe me, finding a lightweight wireless gaming mouse under ₹5,000 isn't that easy.
That's when I came across the VXE R1 SE Plus Lightweight Wireless Gaming Mouse.
The interesting part is that this mouse only recently started becoming available in India, and I managed to get it for around ₹2,500 from Amazon.
I bought the mouse myself, so this isn't a sponsored review.
One thing worth mentioning is that the availability and price of this mouse can vary quite a bit. It's an imported product, and because demand seems to be fairly high, it isn't always easy to find in stock.
So, what makes it interesting? Well, it's often compared with much more expensive lightweight gaming mice, including models that cost several times more.
That got me curious.
Can a mouse costing around ₹2,500 actually compete with much more expensive wireless gaming mice?
Let's find out.
VXE R1 SE Plus Design
The packaging is quite simple and clean, with ATK branding on the box. ATK is the manufacturer behind the mouse, and the product is imported into India.
I went with the white version, and this was actually my first time using a white mouse.
And honestly, I really like the look.
The white finish gives it a very clean and minimal appearance. It doesn't have the flashy gaming aesthetic that you usually see with many gaming mice, and that's actually something I appreciate.
There are white PTFE-style feet on the bottom of the mouse, which are designed to provide smoother and faster movement across the mousepad.
Coming from the Logitech G102, the difference in weight is immediately noticeable.
The mouse also has two additional side buttons, which are useful for gaming as well as general everyday tasks.
There's VXE R1 branding on the side, but thankfully, the overall design remains pretty minimal.
If I didn't know the price of this mouse, I honestly wouldn't have guessed that it costs around ₹2,500.
The design has that clean, professional look you normally associate with higher-end gaming mice.
Size and Comfort
Compared with the Logitech G102, the VXE R1 SE Plus is slightly larger, although the difference isn't huge.
If you have medium-sized hands, you should be able to use it comfortably. I have relatively large hands, so the size worked perfectly fine for me.
However, if you have smaller hands, the G102's shape might feel more comfortable.
This is one of those things that's difficult to judge purely from specifications because mouse shape and grip style are very personal.
So, while I like the size and shape of the R1 SE Plus, your experience may be different depending on your hand size and preferred grip.
The Biggest Advantage: Weight
And now we come to probably the biggest selling point of this mouse: its weight.
The VXE R1 SE Plus weighs around 55 grams, according to the listed specifications.
That's extremely light.
Coming from a Logitech G102, the difference feels massive. The R1 SE Plus is roughly 80% lighter than the G102, and you can immediately feel that when you move the mouse around.
If you've never used an ultra-lightweight mouse before, it can take some time to get used to.
But once you do, moving the mouse around feels much easier and more effortless.
For gaming, especially games where you need quick and frequent mouse movements, this lightweight design can be a major advantage.
Wireless Connectivity
The VXE R1 SE Plus supports wireless connectivity through a 2.4GHz USB receiver.
You also get a USB receiver compartment inside the mouse, which is a nice touch if you need to carry the mouse around and don't want to lose the dongle.
There's also a USB Type-C port for charging.
The package includes a braided USB cable, and the cable feels reasonably well-made.
The wireless setup itself is very straightforward. You basically connect the receiver, switch the mouse on, and you're ready to go.
It's pretty much plug and play.
Polling Rate and DPI
The mouse supports a 1000Hz polling rate, which is more than enough for most gamers and provides smooth tracking and responsiveness.
It also offers a DPI range from 200 to 18,000.
Now, I'm not someone who spends hours gaming every day, so I don't personally use all of these settings.
But if you're more serious about gaming, having the ability to adjust the DPI gives you plenty of flexibility.
There's also a DPI button on the mouse, which makes it easy to switch sensitivity.
Battery Life
Battery life is another area where the VXE R1 SE Plus does quite well.
The mouse is rated for up to around 70 hours of battery life.
For someone like me who doesn't game that often, that's more than enough.
I don't need to charge the mouse frequently. In fact, depending on how much I use it, charging it roughly once a month would probably be enough for my usage.
Of course, your battery life will depend on how frequently you use the mouse and your settings.
Software
VXE also provides its own software, which allows you to customize various settings on the mouse.
You can use the software on Windows or Mac to change things like DPI and other mouse settings.
Personally, I don't feel the need to use the software much. The default settings already work well for my needs.
But it's good to know that the option is there if you want more control over the mouse.
And if you're someone who likes tweaking every little setting, you'll probably find the software useful.
No RGB, and I'm Happy About It
Here's something I actually really like about this mouse: there's no RGB lighting.
I know RGB is practically a requirement for gaming accessories these days, but personally, I'm not a fan.
I prefer a clean-looking mouse without unnecessary lighting.
The lack of RGB also keeps the design simple and minimal.
So if you're like me and don't really care about RGB, the R1 SE Plus gets a thumbs-up here.
How Does It Feel for Gaming?
I mostly play story-driven games, although I occasionally play games like Counter-Strike as well.
After switching from the G102 to the VXE R1 SE Plus, the lightweight design was probably the biggest difference I noticed.
The mouse feels much easier to move around, and the lower weight makes quick movements feel more effortless.
For regular gaming, the experience has been very good so far.
And you don't necessarily have to be a serious gamer to appreciate the lightweight design.
Even for normal everyday use, browsing, editing, and general computer work, the mouse feels noticeably different from a heavier mouse.
The lightweight design is probably the feature that stands out the most.
VXE R1 SE Plus: Is It Worth Buying?
For around ₹2,500, I think the VXE R1 SE Plus is a very interesting wireless gaming mouse.
You get a lightweight 55-gram design, 2.4GHz wireless connectivity, a 1000Hz polling rate, up to 18,000 DPI, around 70 hours of battery life, USB Type-C charging, additional side buttons, and a clean design without RGB lighting.
And then there's the price.
That's what makes this mouse particularly interesting.
You don't have to spend ₹10,000 or ₹20,000 to get a lightweight wireless gaming mouse with a good set of features.
Of course, there are more expensive mice that offer additional features, better software, or different shapes and sensors. But for someone looking for a relatively affordable wireless mouse that is extremely lightweight, the VXE R1 SE Plus checks a lot of boxes.
The only major issue I'd point out is availability.
Since it's an imported product and stock can be limited, the price may fluctuate depending on availability. So you may not always find it at exactly ₹2,500.
My Final Thoughts
After using the VXE R1 SE Plus, I'm genuinely impressed by how much mouse you're getting for the price.
I had been using the Logitech G102 for nearly three years, so moving to a wireless mouse was already a significant change for me. But going from a relatively heavy mouse to something weighing around 55 grams made an even bigger difference.
The design looks clean, the mouse feels premium, the wireless connection is convenient, and the battery life is more than enough for my usage.
I also appreciate the fact that there's no unnecessary RGB lighting.
If you're looking for a lightweight wireless gaming mouse without spending a huge amount of money, the VXE R1 SE Plus is definitely worth considering.
Just keep in mind that the price and availability can change because it's an imported model.
For around ₹2,500, though, this mouse has completely changed my expectations of what you can get from a budget wireless gaming mouse.
