So I just watched Bhoot Bangla yesterday and thought of sharing my opinion
without spilling any spoiler on the film and help you guys decide whether it is worth your time or not.
Whether you should give it a chance or just pass by.

The film is based on a horror comedy theme directed by the Legendary
Priyadarshan with the legendary star cast consisting of Akshay Kumar, Wamiqa Gabbi,
Paresh Rawal, Late Arsani ji, Rajpal Yadav, Tabu and Jisshu Sengupta.
The first part starts with a couple of decent jokes which builds up Akshay’s funny character.
The sound design of the comedy scenes seemed very passive, as a result, the jokes
which were decently performed by Akshay felt very dull and empty.

Though some of the comical scenes felt unnecessary and staged, Akshay and Rajpal
Yadav made sure they don’t feel repetitive and boring with their exceptional
comic timing, God I missed this avatar of Akshay and Rajpal for so long!
If you watched the film I’m pretty sure you will find a lot of resemblance of Khatta Meetha,
the OG film featuring Akshay and Rajpal’s crazy humorous duo.

Wamiqa Gabbi, whom I was watching in theatres for the first time, was quite a bit of
disappointment for me, personally, her dialogues and expressions seemed really random and
inconsistent. I don’t know, maybe because she was casted with some of the best
actors the industry ever seen. There’s definitely a lot of space for improvements.
Jisshu Sengupta’s casting was horribly wrong as he is almost 9 years younger than Akshay,
I believe they could have done better casting an actual old person who is older than Akshay,
I mean what the fry was that.

Coming to the ghost of the story, The horror moments in the beginning felt quite immersive in the hall.
I even got chills and jump scares a few times.
But the character design was really very bad, reminded me of Akshay’s avatar in Robot 2,
I even think that it was a total copy paste. The ghost’s abilities also lacked seriousness I believe.

The second part of the film had an extended action scene. I think there should be less action scenes
in a horror film and more of psychological and exorcism scenes which the film lacked a lot.
But as a comedy film, it really did meet my expectations for a Bollywood film in a long time.
As much as I do think the horror concepts in the film could be written better but the comic moments
were well scripted and deserves our appreciation.
All in all I think the movie is well watchable and enjoyable till intermission and after that
I believe the producers didn’t have to stretch the plot too much, a simple exorcism sequence
involving priests and the main characters would hook us up for a longer time.
